In the vein of other of Patti Smith’s artsongs, lyrics, and verses, “The New World” is a prayerful invocation of a majestic world “of unprecedented calm” where honeybee hives rival “the gold of the plain and the amber of hearts.” Set in the poet’s expressive, chancery-style hand, this letterpress broadside measures 15h x 12w inches. It is printed from polymer plate in an edition of 150 copies for sale and 26 copies hors commerce, all signed by the poet. A typescript transcription of the poem is included.
