"It's Alive!" with Guest Artist Matt Weedman

  • Grabhorn Institute / Arion Press arionpress.com San Francisco United States (map)

How does a nineteen year-old girl create an entirely new genre of storytelling through a book that has maintained popularity for over 200 years?  How does electricity flow through and around our bodies?  How does inspiration flow from science, to art, and back to science, constantly feeding humanity?  Come share these questions with Arion Press guest artist and Professor of Art at Wabash College Matthew Weedman, who will demonstrate the power of electricity and examine the life of Mary Shelley, whose inspiration created a monster that cannot die.

Topics To Be Discussed Are Guaranteed to Include: Reviving the Human Heart * Executions of Convicted Criminals (Perhaps Innocent) * Climate Change  * Creativity * Inspiration * Electricity * Literature  * Children * Film * Lightbulbs * Niagara Falls

This afternoon multimedia performance celebrating Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is a free, all-ages event, and will be followed by a reception. Copies of the newly released Arion Press edition of Frankenstein, a collaboration with the artist Tim Hawkinson, will be available for purchase.
