Visiting the Presidio
Art, Hiking, Dining and Lodging in the Presidio
Arion Press is located in the Presidio National Park, a former military post with miles of hiking trails, beaches, public art, cultural museums and activities, as well as two excellent hotels. The Presidio is also home to four Andy Goldsworthy sculptures: Spire, Wood Line, Tree Fall and Earth Wall. Visit the Presidio Visitor Center and the Presidio Officer’s Club to learn about the park’s rich history.
Our tours of the press provide an ideal respite after a morning of hiking and a picnic lunch, or a visit to the nearby deYoung Fine Arts Museum, or the Legion of Honor. After your tour, visit one of the upscale casual restaurants located in the park, like Tracy Desjardin’s Arguello for Mexican-inspired fare, or the Presidio Social Club for a cocktail. Or grab dinner at a food truck at the weekly family-friendly public picnic Presidio Twilight at the Main Post on Thursday evenings.
Only a short hike from the press, the cliffs beside the ocean and Baker Beach below offer stunning sunsets. Make a weekend of it by booking a room at the elegant Presidio Inn, or the Presidio Lodge, newly opened in a beautifully renovated historic former military barracks, with unmatched views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The PresidiGo Shuttle will transport you around the park for free. Questions about your visit? Feel free to send us an email.
